Twin Cities Wacipi, Fort Pierre

I hadn't been to a powwow in quite a while before attending last weekend's Twin Cities Wacipi in Fort Pierre. This one was well-attended by participants and spectators.

The colorful regalia and intricate dance steps are always fun to photograph, especially when you get a sky like this one.

If you are a regular reader of this blog, you know that my style of photography leans more toward the realistic side and not usually the artistic abstract.

I decided to attempt something a little different with this shot. The sky was the star of the show, so I made it large and added some grain and noise for an old-school "film" look. You probably won't see too many shots like this from me, but it's always fun to break out of your rut and try something new.

For more information on shooting powwow photos check my earlier post at Powwow Photography.
