Photographer's block at Sturgis 09

I have shot the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally on and off for around 25 years. You would think by now I would know exactly what to take pictures of and when to be where. In some cases I do, but on the other hand it also leads to creative block on how to shoot something new and different.

This year Sturgis Main Street lead to that problem. It seemed that everything I looked at I had done before. So I tried something that "sort of" worked.

What I did was walk the street with my camera and wide angle lens hanging around my neck. Without bringing it up to my eye I shot whatever seemed somewhat interesting, "shooting from the hip" you might say. Of course, I came up with a lot of bad photos that you are never going to see. These few lead me to the conclusion that if you spent more than the couple hours I put into it, this idea might yield some good photos.
