St. Paul in limited color

While visiting my college student son in St. Paul, Minnesota last weekend I just had to take a stab at "city" photography.

I'm sure it was partly due to the winter season, but a lack of bright colors struck me as the reason so many people shoot black and white photos of city scenes. However, I wasn't too excited about merely copying that technique so I decided to look for spots of bright color within the monochromatic landscape. After bringing the images home, I used Photoshop to emphasize the effect with some selective desatuating of what color was there.

I like these a lot! My favorite is the shot with all of Mickey's from across the street.
