These two parks in southwestern South Dakota have been called one of the best places to shoot photos of pronghorn antelope and bison and I certainly agree. You can also find mule deer, whitetail deer, bighorn sheep and elk who all at times challenge each other for superiority.
These pronghorns were dueling on one of the Custer State Park back roads in June.

Deer and elk more typically fight during the fall rutting season, with these shots being taken in October near Legion Lake in Custer State Park.

To find elk, I usually check Wind Cave's back roads where I witnessed this struggle between two bulls in late October.

If you missed the buffalo fighting photos, check here.
