Hot Springs storm damage

Wow, the folks in Hot Springs, South Dakota had a rough afternoon today. A huge thunderstorm rolled through with heavy rain, hail and nasty winds.

Co-worker Scott Howard and I rolled into town just on the tail end of the worst of it and found flooded streets, many trees and branches down, power out in most of town, a camper upside down, the roof torn off a building, etc. What a mess!

A billboard fell on these two cars and boat.

Large hail also broke car windows and did other damage near Rockerville this afternoon and knocked out power in Rapid City according to the Rapid City Journal. I'm just hoping no one was hurt.

Still waiting to hear the meteorology i.d. I watched the fast- swirling wind and rain and treetops in my courtyard -- it swooshed round and round. Cyclone?
