Different autumn colors

Cool crisp autumn air doesn't always mean colorful leaves to shoot. Other color-drenched photo subjects make their appearance this time of year all over eastern South Dakota.

Watermelon and pumpkin stands can be found just about anywhere East River, but a 75-mile stretch of Highways 37 and 34 between Huron and Mitchell is one of the best concentrated areas for finding a variety of roadside stands to shoot. Included is the famous melon-growing region around Forestburg.

Apple orchards can also provide some interesting photos. This one is just south of Sioux Falls on Highway 115.

Even if it's just to get the kids out for fall photos, there's fun to be had right now before the leaves turn and lenses tend to turn toward nature.

If you plan your photo trip to wander through Huron, the South Dakota State Fair is also going on right now. Check out photo tips for that at SD State Fair.

Chad --- Just wanted to give you a heads up. Oahe Speedway hosts the annual Division 5 National Event September 24-26 north of town. we typically run about 150ish cars that weekend. Everything from jr. drags through big drags, classic cars through nostalgia. If you are in town that weekend you should stop up and check us out. Friday is just a test and tune, but the big races start Saturday the 25th. We are also doing a Draggin for Pinks fundraiser for Countryside Hospice. Lots of tough racers in pink. It's a great weekend.

Thanks Sarah, great information. Unfortunately I will be at the Custer State Park Buffalo Roundup that entire weekend.
