Raptor Alley lives up to it's name

Almost exactly one year ago here at Dakotagraph I suggested that Highway 34 through western South Dakota be designated as "Raptor Alley". A trip along the same stretch of prairie road this year only reinforces my thoughts.

On Wednesday between Hayes and Bear Butte it seemed that every other power pole, fence post, tree and highway sign had an eagle or hawk sitting on it. Photographers like me don't make good travel time when they are constantly easing to stop on the shoulder to stick a lens out the window, but it sure is fun!
