Learning new techniques

I'm spending time lately learning new Photoshop techniques. Digging through Scott Kelby's book "The Adobe Photoshop CS5 Book for Digital Photographers" and practicing on some recent shots is fun and really helps. Now if I can get these new ideas to sink in and be easily dredged back to the surface when I need them, I'll have something good going on.

Here's another attempt at HDR from a shot at Roughlock Falls in Spearfish Canyon. More realistic than my last post, and less surrealistic. I lightened the edges on this one to enhance the winter feel, not sure if I like it or not.

Since there really wasn't much color in the scene, I decided to do away with it completely and darken the edges on this angle.

By the way, getting to Roughlock Falls in winter means a snowmobile, snowshoes or a hike through the snow.

Big improvement over the first HDR post. Isn't fun to learn new things? I have yet to try this. I love those shots.

Thanks! I think I'm getting somewhere, now to be consistent with it.
