South Dakota skies

As I travel South Dakota looking for great images, I see plenty of incredible scenery, wildlife and fun attractions, but nothing makes me find a place to pull over and shoot faster than a great sky.

We have wide-open, amazing skies and cloud formations no matter where you are on the map. Of course, there's also almost never a shortage of cool subject matter to put in the foreground of a dramatic sky.

Add a sunrise or sunset color to these and you've got a real "wow" factor.

So dust off the wide angle lenses and keep an eye upward this spring and summer as you are out shooting the "Great Faces and Great Places" of South Dakota.
