Oahe Speedway Photo Walk rescheduled for July 31

Due to a scheduling conflict, the Oahe Speedway Photo Walk previously scheduled for July 30 has been rescheduled for Sunday, July 31 at 8:30 am. Sorry if that messes up a couple people, but I'll now be in Deadwood on Saturday.

Hopefully the earlier start time should give us better light to shoot race cars, motorcycles and maybe even some snowmobiles running the 1/4 mile drag strip. Admission will be free to Photo Walk participants and there will be access to the starting area/burnout pits for some cool close range photography of the vehicles.

WE NEED AN RSVP BY FRIDAY, JULY 22 to let the track know how many of us will be photographing the races on the 31st. Leave me a comment on the blog or at the Facebook page and we'll reserve a spot for you.

I like to think of shooting racing as a chance to branch out and try some new techniques you might not use otherwise. Of course, panning with high-speed subjects will be one skill to work on.

You can also go wild with the post-processing and add some funky Photoshop filters like "Glowing Edge."

You can see more idea photos at these earlier posts.

Oahe Speedway is located 14 miles north of Pierre on Highway 1804. More information is at OaheSpeedway.com.
