Lucky for me I took this shot of the gulch and the capitol before the sun actually came up because the fog just rolled in and blocked all light from reaching the valley floor.
What did I do before I discovered HDR and then Photomatix to process it? This kind of shot would have been much more difficult without these cool tools.

This is a gorgeous shot! I hope you do it again, same place, same effects, with the fall trees. That would make an awesome pair!
