Sunrise made more spectacular

Last weekend as I woke up in Custer a blanket of fog was rolling through the valley. I quickly headed for Stockade Lake on the west edge of Custer State Park and clicked away as the fog cleared over the water.

As beautiful as it was, I had a vision of something even more spectacular like this -

So what did it look like to my camera? Here's the untouched version of the middle exposure in an HDR set and the final image after processing through Photomatix and Photoshop.

Reminds me of the light you'd expect to see in a Bierstadt painting.

Makes me want to go and play with HDR right away :)
