I've photographed every South Dakota governor

I was part of an interesting project last week which required me to photograph the painted portraits of South Dakota's former governors that are displayed in the Capitol building in Pierre.

So even though Governors Bill Janklow and Dennis Daugaard do not yet have their portraits hanging in the Capitol, I have photographed them while in office, so I've shot every governor that has served the state.

The portraits will soon be published on the official State of South Dakota website and later in a book available at the Capitol. Until those are available, here are my favorite two portraits.

Governor Nils Boe served from 1965 to 1969. Painting by Eugene Christopherson.

Walter Dale Miller served from 1993 to 1995. Painting by Richard Miller.

I have no idea why both paintings that I like portray the governors holding their eyeglasses.
