Camera Club Roundup ideas/hosts welcome

A discussion during last year's Black Hills Photo Shootout between Ted Ayers of the Black Hills Photography Club and Betsy Petersen from the Mitchell Area Camera Club led to the creation of the South Dakota Camera Club Roundup, to be held May 18 and 19 at the 1880 Town in western South Dakota. Full details are available here at Dakotagraph.com. There is no event fee and no agenda other than to have fun and get some good photos.

It looks like we have a pretty good group coming to the Roundup including members of the Black Hills, Mitchell, Sioux Falls, Huron and Black Hills State University clubs and even one shooter from Colorado. Everyone is welcome, so feel free to show up if it's Friday evening, Saturday morning or both and you don't need to be a member of a club to come.

I have also heard from several photographers who would like to attend, but are busy with graduation ceremonies, weddings, etc. That's completely understandable, but has also raised the suggestion that similar events be held at other times of the year. This was actually my intention from the start. It seemed natural for me to get the ball rolling with the connections I've made through my job at South Dakota Tourism. From this point I'm hoping the clubs can cooperate and coordinate future get-togethers.

Any and all ideas, site suggestions, hosting plans, etc. are welcome. It's great to see the photography community in South Dakota continue to build.

If you can think of someone that may not have seen the information about the Camera Club Roundup, please forward it on!

P.S. - The 1880 Town rents out old west costumes so you can take pictures of each other throughout the buildings and on the streets of the town. Thought some of you might like to know that info beforehand so you can think up some ideas.
