Thanks guys. That really grungy HDR style seems to fit really well with this Route 66 nostalgia stuff. It's actually my Olympus Pen E-P3 doing most of the work with it's Art/Dramatic Tones mode.
Tucumcari tonight! I have been a Mother Road head for many years having toured various sections during my life and actually lived on the pre 1937 portion that looped through Santa Fe, NM, but the highlight was in 1995 when my brother and spent a couple of weeks retracing the entire route from Chicago to LA. We dipped our toes in Lake Michigan at the start and about 10 days later we dipped them in the Pacific under the Santa Monica Pier. Enjoy your trip, it’s a great experience. I can’t wait to see more of your photos.
I have been the Senior Photographer for the South Dakota Department of Tourism and State Development since 1993. That means I travel the entire state making South Dakota pictures of festivals, historic sites, landscapes, wildlife, visitor attractions, etc. My photographs have appeared in many publications including National Geographic Traveler, books on the rock band KISS, and exhibited at the National Museum of Wildlife Art. I also love movies and their history, especially those filmed in South Dakota.
