Camera clubs encouraged to get together and share the fun

Dana Geuther from the Through The Lens Camera Club in Aberdeen just contacted me about finding speakers/presenters for the club's meetings. It reminded me about the idea I wanted to promote through last spring's South Dakota Camera Club Roundup. That is that area clubs should get together and share their knowledge, ideas and enthusiasm.

If you missed it then, last April we had members of the Sioux Falls Camera Club, the Huron Area Photography Club, the Mitchell Camera Club, the Black Hills Photography Club, and the Central South Dakota Photography Club all shooting together at the 1880 Town between Murdo and Belvidere. A little stormy weather provided some interesting shooting situations, but it was a lot of fun and it seemed like everyone enjoyed meeting people from the other clubs.

I'm hoping the idea spreads so that each of the clubs continues to contact, work with, plan events together, share speakers, etc. with their counterparts in other regions. I realize not everyone in every club is going to feel comfortable going to speak at another club's meetings, but I bet some would have a lot of fun with it.

Each club's contact information is listed in the column on the right side of this page, so find one to join, find one to plan a mutual outing with, host another "Roundup," or ask if they have someone that would be willing to visit your club for a few dollars to pay expenses.
